Having never even opened the UI before, in a couple of minutes I was able to make a massively overcomplicated 3d extruded title that bounced all over the screen for 30 seconds. Today I was playing with the Boris Title Studio that comes with Continuum. Gimp is another great alternative I guess. Not as difficult as it seems to create a relatively simple animated lower third. Worth learning I think and more affordable than After Effects. Yeah, I use Fusion for my Titles on longer projects.

I think Fusion Free (tough learning curve) or Gimp might be a better. Personally, I have not had great luck with Resolve's title tool when it comes to intelligent layout.

If on MAC - either downgrade your OS prior to Catalina where the legacy title tool will run, or use the free version of resolve to render out titles. If you're on windows, simply use the Legacy titler. My advice for long form editors wanting a titling solution has always been to try to avoid the tool completely. The above happened on macOS 12.3.1, MC 2022.4 Thanks for what you've done, but it's not enough - yet). (Seriously though, your work to fix things cannot proceed fast enough. Best titler in the world, and an amazing acheivement in 1985 that this can do so much. my director was so psyched to see characters randomly not incuded in my output, and I didn't mind having to get up early on the weekend to have to re-output and then check every single lower third in a feature docutmentary.Īll told - great work guys, rock on. I was thrilled to see that the Titler+ edit window still appears in completely random locations on either of my screens every time I open it, or sometimes not at all, requiring a restart. Delighted to see that clicking on the colour picker still causes MC to crash! It's cool to see Titler+ making any new text added to an existing title always be in Arial Bold, and at a random font size, regardless of how the rest of the title is set. Some of my titles, if left justified, lose the first character on each line - I thought this was great, but disappointed to see the characters reappear when the title was center or right justified! When you select a title and click to enter the Titler+ tool, the title disappears! Just.disappears! All of my existing Titler+ titles, which I'd struggled so hard to make over the past year in various versions of MC 2021.x displayed fascinating new abilities. I haven't heard much official tech info on this one.I was thrilled to discover many, many new problems with Titler+ in 2022.4.

Then just disable your sound card and hope that Windows lets Avid see your device. then hook THAT up to a system like Larry's got! No matter what your computer puts out, without great speakers you'll never hear it!

if you really value the quality of your audio- get a nice, 3rd party hardware device that's really made for pro audio with pro audio connectors. probably much better D/A conversion.īut to the rest of you, I DO think that Tom is right on this one. Larry- I think when you hook up a decent sound card to a sweet system liike yours- you ARE likely to get great results! Might have something to do with them JBL's, eh?! I would recommend a trick I've done with a sound card: you hook up the OPTICAL SPDIF output of your sound card to some nice D/A convertors- (I use an old DAT machine I got on Craigslist for $30) and plug THAT into your system. And I have A-B'd it with an audio card- there is no comparison. This is a HUGE improvement and Avid deserves huge THANKS for it!!! Now I can use my Focusrite Sapphire Pro40- a superb device, by the way- and really hear the audio in Avid. I think that support for top-notch 3rd-party ASIO audio devices is one of the most under-rated improvements of Media Composer, EVER! If you just disable the sound card and have a great hardware audio device hooked up to your system, Avid sees it (I guess through the Windows Mixer?) and now you can have great D/A convertors and quality connectors!
